Project Manager - #5768

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities: As Project Manager for the OEM L1 group, you will:

  • Manage specific new product development projects within NovAtel’s product development group
  • Work closely with Marketing, Product Development, Verification, and Manufacturing to achieve goals in the areas of functionality, quality and time to market
  • Be accountable for creating and tracking project schedules and budgets while ensuring proper development processes are followed to produce high quality, cost-effective products
  • Be responsible for project management involving teams consisting of software/firmware, hardware/digital/PCB, GNSS system, RF/antenna, and mechanical designers, as well as, with Product Management and Business Operations stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities may include managing the investigation of new features, performance enhancements, maintenance, and cost reductions. As part of the project management team you will contribute to the advancement of the project management practice through involvement and input to process/continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications:
You have a university degree in electrical, geomatics or computer engineering with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. You have successfully managed technical (electronic, firmware, mechanical) product development projects and new product introduction (NPI) and are experienced with electronic hardware and embedded software development. You have excellent communication and organizational skills. Previous GNSS experience and/or PMI certification would be beneficial.

Systems Engineer - #5766

Responsibilities:
You will provide senior engineering leadership to Aviation GNSS Receiver development projects which includes supporting all aspects of the project (planning, execution, timing, specification, implementation, qualification, and cost), and executing the project consistent with the applicable Aviation standards (DO-178B for software and DO-254 for hardware) and NovAtel policies and procedures. Your duties will include developing and optimizing GNSS Receiver functionality and algorithms to support aviation specific requirements. You will also be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to all engineering staff and keeping current in signal processing technology and programming techniques/methodologies. You will be expected to actively participate in RTCA working groups to represent NovAtel’s interests in the development of International Standards. You will also be expected to develop and present papers/reports at international conferences.

Qualifications:
Ideally you have a post graduate degree in electrical or geomatics engineering along with a minimum of 10 years of development and qualification of Aviation Certified GPS Receivers. You have a strong technical background with proven ability to develop products for production. You have experience with current embedded processor and peripheral technologies (Power PC, ARM), communication standards/technologies (USB 2.0, Ethernet, and RS-232/485), design for manufacturing, design for regulatory, and EMI/EMC. You have proven leadership ability, with a keen desire to develop and nurture an engineering team to produce world class aviation products.

Software Engineer / Designer - #5764

Responsibilities:
You will contribute to the ongoing enhancement and support of NovAtel’s world class GNSS receivers. Working closely with other software, hardware and test engineers, your duties will include implementation of new features and product improvements, testing and documentation. Working in cooperation with customer support application engineers, you will provide advanced technical support in resolving customer issues.

Qualifications:
You have a university degree in electrical, computer, or geomatics engineering along with a minimum of 4 years software development experience using C/C++ in real-time, embedded systems. You are self-motivated with excellent problem solving and communications skills, and are able to learn complex systems quickly. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality are required. Familiarity with GNSS technologies would be an asset.

Embedded Firmware Designer - #5761

Responsibilities:
NovAtel's L1 group is looking for an intermediate level Software Designer / Engineer to join the team responsible for the development of various GNSS receivers and products. The GNSS firmware, which is written in C/C++, runs in a multi-tasking environment using a real time operating system. Your duties will mainly consist of some requirements definition, software design, coding, testing, debugging, developing new test procedures, documentation, and product support. You will also work with the system verification group to resolve firmware defects. You will develop and assist in the development of new features for existing and new GNSS receiver platforms, as well as write structured, commended, and concisely documented code to perform low-level functions. On an “as-needed” basis, you may also be involved in board-level design and testing of digital circuits involving ASICs, memory interfaces (Flash, SRAM, DDR), I\O interfaces (UART, USB, CAN, Ethernet, etc.), baseband receiver I\Q signals, software/hardware PLL, and more.

Qualifications:
You have an electrical or computer engineering degree or equivalent, along with a minimum of 2 years experience with embedded firmware development using C/C++. Embedded system hardware expertise and prior GNSS knowledge or design/test/debug experience would be considered assets. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with ARM processors, Green Hills RTOS development tools, and version control software (e.g. TrueChange, ClearCase). Previous experience in using high-speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab instruments would also be beneficial.
