GPS & L-band Antenna with RoHS Compliant Labels

NovAtel Inc., a precise positioning technology company, announced the release of its GPS & L-band antenna, the GPS-702L, in the summer of 2005. This antenna, complete with RoHS labels, features improved Real-time Kinematic (RTK) performance and offers access to the GPS L1 and L2 frequencies, as well as the L-band frequencies used by OmniSTAR and Canada-wide Differential GPS (CDGPS) correction services.

The GPS-702L was NovAtel's first antenna to feature RoHS compliant labels proving RoHS certification. RoHS refers to Restriction on Hazardous Substances, a detailed list of criteria developed by the European Economic Union (EEU) in order to reduce the amount of hazardous materials in electronic products. The RoHS directive, a legal document issued by the EEU in 2003, requires applicable products to have RoHS compliant labels and bans new electronic equipment from being sold in Europe after July 1, 2006 if it contains more than trace levels of:

lead or cadmium
hexavalent chromium
mercury or certain brominated flame-retardants

NovAtel expects all future OEM products to be RoHS compliant, and this RoHS certification will be indicated by RoHS compliant labels.
