(Calgary, Alberta, Canada, September 23nd, 2009)
– NovAtel Inc. (NovAtel), the leading original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of precise global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning technology, announced today at the ION 2009 tradeshow in Savannah, Georgia, the launch of their new single frequency GNSS receiver. The low cost, 14 channel, L1 OEMStar is only 46 mm by 71 mm in size and consumes just 750 mW of power when tracking both GPS and GLONASS signals.

"There is definitely a void in the marketplace at this price/performance level. We believe this is the lowest cost GLONASS capable receiver out there," said Graham Purves, VP. Sales and Marketing for NovAtel. "The small form factor of the OEMStar is extremely easy to integrate into new or existing systems, and is form factor compatible with both our previous SUPERSTAR II and current OEMV-1 and OEMV-1G receivers."

The company plans to start shipping the OEMStar to customers in November, 2009.
