NovAtel Releases Latest Version of OEMV® Precision Receiver Firmware

Version 3.700 incorporates L5 tracking plus enhancements to NovAtel's RT-2 ™ L1TE and ALIGN ™ technologies

(Calgary, Alberta, Canada, September 22nd, 2009) – NovAtel Inc. (NovAtel), the leading original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of precise positioning technology, announced today in Calgary, the launch of its Version 3.700 firmware for their OEMV family of GNSS precision receivers. This latest firmware upgrade features L5 tracking capabilities and includes enhancements to NovAtel's single frequency RTK positioning solution, RT-2 L1TE, and to the company's ALIGN heading technology.

To increase solution availability and accelerate ambiguity resolution, RT-2 L1TE was upgraded to receive Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) measurements as well as GPS and GLONASS signals. SBAS access is beneficial for customers working in foliated environments, where optimal satellite coverage is not always possible.

The SBAS assisted solution is now available on ALIGN heading technology that is built off of NovAtel's RT-2 L1TE engine, providing better solution availability and improved initialization times for L1 operation modes. Version 3.700 also enables ALIGN to output both master and remote positions at both receiver ends through new message logs, as well as provides an RTK position along with heading at the Remote receiver.
